What happens when two girls dying to see and experience the world turn 18? You probably guessed it: they’ll be darting out faster than an excited dog clipped off the leash, and you’ll only catch glimpses of them as they roam free.
This is what happened to us some years ago, and since then, both of our lives - sometimes independently, sometimes intertwined - have been one big adventure and the stories have been piling up.
And we simply can’t get enough of it.
In what we counted amounts to 15+ years if adding up our adult travel lives, we’ve been lucky enough to see some incredible places, make beautiful memories, meet fantastic people, and also learn a good number of lessons. Travel has been one of the most wonderful things in both of our lives, something that’s always present, and also a big aspect of what connects us to one another. So we decided it’s time to put our creative hats on and start making something together that can inspire others to go and live those wonderful adventures by sharing our best (and worst) travel stories, as well as our learnings along the way.
In these accumulated years, we’ve been to a fair share of hostels. We’ve seen and experienced a lot: the good, the bad and the dirty. While this form of travel is typically seen as a great budget-friendly, low-threshold option, it can actually be so much more than that. Hence, this guide. We have collected our experiences, lessons learnt and tips & tricks to plan, navigate and maximize enjoyment of hostel travel.
Let’s get hostelin’!
Lots of love and crazy stories to come,
Riitta & Elli
